Juliette Binoche- Hot Seat Interview- Actor- Queen at Sea

Juliette Binoche is one of our greatest living actors. The Paris-born performer has proven it time and again, delivering so many extraordinary performances that it’s difficult to count them all. She won the Academy Award for The English Patient, Best Actress at Cannes for Certified Copy, and Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival for Three Colours: Blue. And if anything, her work has only grown more impressive since then. Binoche embodies what it means to pour your soul into a performance. Let the Sunshine In, High Life, Between Two Worlds, and The Taste of Things are just a few of the films she has made over the past decade, each featuring a performance worthy of the highest praise.

Having the opportunity to speak with Binoche is truly one of the biggest highlights of my career. What made the experience even more memorable was the chance to speak with her during the press tour for her newest film, Queen at Sea. Surprise, surprise: Binoche is phenomenal in this incredibly complex story about a woman caught between her mother’s Alzheimer’s disease and her teenage daughter’s coming of age.

I wish our conversation could have lasted for hours, but I’m incredibly grateful we had the chance to discuss so many fascinating topics, including a childhood encounter with Charlie Chaplin when she was just five years old, the connections she forms with the directors she works with, whether she watches her own films, and how she views this stage of her illustrious career.

QUEEN AT SEA IS PLAYING IN SELECT THEATERS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30TH AND EXPANDS EVERYWHERE FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH, 2026.
