Tom Kenny- Hot Seat Interview- Actor- The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants

SpongeBob SquarePants is slowly approaching 30-years, and although much of the credit belongs to series creator Stephen Hillenburg, there would be no SpongeBob without Tom Kenny. The Syracuse, New York, native is the complete embodiment of the lovable sea sponge, creating a character with his high-pitched voice, with the perfect mixture of optimism and ignorance. The character of SpongeBob is as big today as Bugs Bunny was in the 60s, and that is all due to the amazing genius that is Tom Kenny. The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants is the 6th feature film for Kenny delivering the iconic voice, but his career began with stand-up comedy and becoming involved in the HBO sketch comedy show, Mr. Show. Since then, he’s not only become memorable for delivering the voice of SpongeBob, but also one of the greatest vocal performers of all-time. I was incredibly lucky to speak with Tom about the TV shows and movies that he grew up with, his appreciation for the collaboration of sketch comedy, and how each SpongeBob movie feels more special than the next.
