Matilda Lutz & MJ Bassett- Hot Seat Interview- Actor- Director- Red Sonja

It has often been said that the movies that should actually be remade are the ones that were not much of a success, so that artists can give it another try the second time around, and knock it out of the park. That statement rings true with the newest version of Red Sonja. Directed by MJ Bassett and starring the always impressive Matilda Lutz. It’s a new adaptation of the classic Robert E. Howard comic book, and instead of outdated action, this version is incredibly cool. Lutz is one of the biggest rising stars in cinema, where she made a name for herself in Coralie Fargeat’s Revenge, and continues to shine as she carries her sword with great fury as the title character, Sonja. MJ Bassett has already established herself as a premier director of action movies, with her breakout hit Solomon Kane and her independent survival film Wilderness, which made her the perfect choice to helm the warrior film, which includes a cyclops, monsters, and wizards, perfect for someone with her resume. I had the chance to speak with MJ and Matilda about making Red Sonja a reality, the preparation for the film, and creating monsters with a green screen and a tennis ball on a stick. Watch it here:
