Jermaine Fowler- Hot Seat Interview- Actor- Terrestrial

Jermaine Fowler credits his success to himself, his family, friends, and a few others along the way, but ultimately he can take pride in saying he did it on his own. The Washington, D.C., native made the bold decision at the age of 17 to become a stand-up comedian. Pursuing your dreams is terrifying, and if it were easy, we all would do it, but the universe got it right with Fowler. It’s also nice that your first film is in the creative world of Boots Riley’s Sorry to Bother You, and from then on, Fowler has succeeded in every role. At 38, what makes Fowler even more impressive is his knowledge of cinema. He is a true cinephile, and his passion for the art form is abundantly clear. His newest film, Terrestrial, is easily some of Fowler’s best work yet, playing a struggling writer who invites college friends to his new luxury home, but there might be something darker going on behind the scenes. I was grateful to speak with Jermaine about a variety of topics, from getting his start in comedy, working with a voice such as Boots Riley, his love for Michael Bay’s The Rock, and the director he wants to work with next.
