Maxime Giroux- Hot Seat Interview- Director- In Cold Light

The career of 49-year-old Maxime Giroux is still young, but the director from Quebec, Canada, has instantly proven he has a unique voice in cinema. He previously won awards for his film Felix and Meira and made a big splash in Canada with his movie The Great Darkened Days. His 6th feature, In Cold Light, is his first film in the United States. Maika Monroe and Oscar-winner Troy Kotsur star in a dark drama about a daughter who attempts to clean her life after serving time in prison, only for a group of mobsters to keep her on the run. It’s an impressive throwback to 1970s-style crime thrillers and shot on 16mm film. I was grateful for the chance to talk with Maxime about his start with music videos, having Kotsur play a darker role, giving his film a gritty look, and the power of Maika Monroe.
