Nora Fingscheidt- Hot Seat Interview- Director- The Outrun

Director Nora Fingscheidt was born in Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany, and spent much of her youth in Argentina, but she has made an instant impact in the United States with three strong movies in a row. System Crasher (2019), The Unforgivable (2021), and now The Outrun are all stories about the resilience of women. This may be coincidental, but Fingscheidt also has great resilience, as she’s worked to have formal training as an acting coach, as a screenwriter, and a background in all types of films (docs, shorts, you name it). Her newest film The Outrun is her greatest work yet, with a potentially Oscar-winning turn for Saoirse Ronan, in a story about a woman’s struggle with her alcoholism and handled with a beautiful touch from Fingscheidt. I interviewed Nora and we talked about how she hated the ending of Titanic, shooting on the Islands of Scotland, and becoming good friends with Ronan in the process. Watch my interview here:
