Tyrese Gibson- Hot Seat Interview- Actor- 1992

What can’t be claimed about Tyrese Gibson is that he’s inauthentic. The platinum R&B musician and star of the Fast & Furious series tells it like it is, or at least, is passionate when he talks. It’s understandable as well because Gibson has recently experienced great loss, with the passing of his mother, a divorce, the loss of his mentor John Singleton, and the loss of Paul Walker, it’s clear to see that the Watts, Los Angeles native is getting the most out of every day. With his newest film 1992, Gibson goes back to his acting roots. His character is Mercer, living in South Central LA, with the Rodney King uprising going on in the background, struggling to raise his teenage son, and a heist taking place at the metal factory where he works. It makes for great drama and it’s a reminder that Gibson made his start with his breakout performance in Singleton’s Baby Boy. I was incredibly lucky to be able to sit down and talk with Tyrese, chatting about how we share the same birthday, his favorite character that he has played, his new album Beautiful Pain, and a whole lot of other stuff. Watch it now:

1992 is in theaters Friday, August 30th, 2o24
