Megan Griffiths & Eliza Flug- Hot Seat Interview- Director/Writer- Year of the Fox

Director Megan Griffiths has been a favorite of mine for a long time now. She is the complete embodiment of an independent filmmaker. She tells human stories, never sugarcoating, but asking the audience to walk in someone’s shoes. Eden, Lucky Them, and Sadie are some of her best. She’s made these films with incredible talents, such as Toni Collette, Jamie Chung, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Melanie Lynskey, and you don’t just work with those actors by luck. Someone that has been along with Megan on her journey is writer/producer Eliza Flug. The writer is compassionate and open with her life experience, writing a personal film in Year of the Fox. I was able to chat with Megan and Eliza before the world premiere at the Seattle International Film Festival to talk about making Year of the Fox, casting Sarah Jeffery as the lead, telling stories that are deeply human, and getting great music to set the tone.
